I traveled to Istanbul with all the knowledge of an explorer off to discover a new world. After all, Columbus didn’t read a guidebook. I found a city full of mystery, intrigue, and friendly people. I never attempted to solve the mysteries, since those mysteries were more exciting to me than knowing the truth. I did spend time with some of the people of Istanbul, wandered the streets, usually lost, and wondered about what I was seeing.
"If one had but a single glance to give the world, one should gaze on Istanbul"
Alphonse de Lamartine
